Let's start by introducing myself and what brought me to start this adventure...
After sustaining an injury to my thumb while playing collegiate volleyball in 2008, I ended up needing to attend hand therapy to rehabilitate my thumb. The therapy worked so well that I was able to avoid having surgery to fix the ligament in my thumb that had been damaged. I became interested in the field of occupational therapy from this experience, and changed my career path from communications to healthcare. After obtaining my masters in occupational therapy from New York University in 2013, I found my first job as a hand therapist, and have been practicing ever since. I am a registered OT by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, and am licensed by the State of New Jersey. After a rigorous course of study, I passed the Hand Therapy Certification Commission’s test to become a Certified Hand Therapist in 2017.
I love helping people to get their hands back in working order. For many of my patients, I am helping to give them back their life, whether that is going back to work, taking care of their kids, or simply being able to use their hands to get dressed independently. I'm here to share some of the gems that I've learned along the way.
The tips on this site are not meant to replace your doctor or health care provider. If you are experiencing hand pain, I highly recommend that you be seen by a doctor or certified hand therapist.Â
